Rigathi Gachagua Sends Warning to Those Scheming Nyoro to Succeed Ruto 2032
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua urged leaders from the Mt Kenya region to come together, avoid divisive politics, and encourage increased involvement of youth in beneficial socio-economic pursuits.
Addressing attendees at the Kiambu Golf Club during a thanksgiving event for golf champion Michael Karanga on Saturday night, the Deputy President noted the existence of a political agenda aimed at splitting the Mt Kenya voting bloc.
Despite this, he expressed confidence that these tactics would not prevail, urging leaders instead to concentrate on fostering development and socio-economic advancement for the community.
“I urge the leaders to be united and focused. Those scheming to divide the region should know that the people of Mt Kenya are intelligent and are aware of what is happening. Those seeking to divide us are enemies of the region. Our relevance in national leadership lies on our unity. We know what disunity and divisive politics did us in 1992 and 1997 elections,” he added.
Joined by numerous Members of Parliament from the region, who pledged their support, Mr. Gachagua called on leaders to unite under the common goal of building a robust and prosperous community.
Gachagua expressed his inclusive approach, stating that he had welcomed leaders from all political affiliations, regardless of their campaign strategies or voting choices in the 2022 General Election.
“Elections are over, let us the close debate on who voted where because nobody was wrong in making his/her political choice. Let us not remind people where they voted because that is null. President William Ruto and I decided to move on and unite the people. The region is united behind President William Ruto; the people want development and a conducive environment for their businesses,” he stated.
Among the leaders present were Waithaka Machua, the MP for the area, Karungo Thang’wa, the Kiambu Senator, Anne Wamuratha, the Kiambu Woman Representative, Njuguna Kawanjiku, Kiambaa MP, Alice Ng’ang’a representing Thika Town, Engineer John Kiragu from Limuru, Kamande Mwafrika from Roysambu, MejjaDonk Gathiru from Embakasi Central, and members of the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) Kanini Kega and Maina Karobia. Additionally, there were various MCAs and other leaders, including Caleb Kositany, the Chairperson of Kenya Airports Authority, and Phillip Ochola, the Chairperson of Kenya Golf Union.
“During the 2022 campaigns we said it was President Ruto ten years without a break and the same for DP Gachagua. I urge my colleagues in the Mt Kenya region that we focus on development and success of the President not succession of leadership, let us stop the politics and internal wrangles,” said EALA Member Karobia.
MP Ng’ang’a of Thika Town constituency remarked, “There is always one leader at a time, and we are content with DP Gachagua’s leadership.” She criticized attempts to create divisions in the region through intercounty politics, emphasizing that it was inappropriate to initiate succession politics when President Ruto and DP Gachagua had only been in office for a year.
