Didmus Barasa Reveals why William Ruto Could Soon Dismiss Some CSs
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has suggested that President William Ruto may dismiss certain Cabinet Secretaries (CS) due to their lack of performance.
During an interview on K24 on Monday, December 4, Barasa indicated that the president is cognizant of the incompetence of some of his Cabinet Secretaries.
Barasa expressed the belief that the head of state possesses intelligence and a clear vision for the direction in which he wants to lead the country.
The Kimilili lawmaker suggested that the president’s initiative to have Cabinet Secretaries sign performance contracts serves as a method to facilitate their easier removal.
“President William Ruto is very intelligent. He understands where this country needs to go; he defines where the sector wants to go, and the technocrats who work under him, including the Cabinet Secretary, are the ones who will develop the ratios to achieve what the president wants.
The head of state is also aware of the fact that some of the people he has assigned duties to are incompetent. And that is why he called them to the State House to sign a performance contract” Barasa said.
As a member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, Barasa asserted his confidence that President Ruto would dismiss certain Cabinet Secretaries in the upcoming quarterly reviews.
“When it comes to the quarterly review of the performance report that the CSs signed, I am 100% sure some of the Cabinet Secretaries would have not met the demands will be sacked,” he added
In an unrelated development, Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio la Umoja and the One Kenya coalition, has called for the resignation of two Cabinet Secretaries in the Kenya Kwanza government.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, November 20, the ODM leader urged Energy CS Davis Chirchir and Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u to step down.
Raila connected the two Cabinet Secretaries to a controversial oil importation saga involving KSh 17 billion from Turkey.
He alleged that the government-to-government deal was a corrupt scheme designed to withdraw funds from the exchequer without the required approvals.
The former prime minister also accused the Treasury CS of withdrawing billions from the Consolidated Fund without parliamentary approval.
He emphasized that the two Cabinet Secretaries from the Kenya Kwanza government should face prosecution for criminal offenses and abuse of office.
