Azimio tells Ruto Ruto to ease the burden over high cost of living
The Azimio coalition has criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration, alleging that it has ignored critical issues affecting the people of Kenya.
Leaders from the coalition, including ODM leader Raila Odinga, expressed their disapproval of the Kenya Kwanza allies’ tough stance on issues related to the cost of living during a burial ceremony in Mwala, Machakos County.
They pointed out that in the recently concluded National Dialogue, addressing the high cost of living was among the non-negotiable essentials advocated by the opposition.
Simultaneously, Raila Odinga expressed his disapproval of the government’s intentions to auction off state-owned enterprises, deeming such plans as inappropriate.
“No country in the entire world can dare dispose such a crucial parastatal unless its out to finish it’s citizens” he said, adding several attempts by the past regimes flopped.
They participated in the funeral service of Phyllis Mawathe, who was the mother of Embakasi South MP Patrick Mawathe.
Concurrently, Raila Odinga accused the Parliament of being influenced and compromised by the executive, to the detriment of the interests of the Kenyan citizens.
Raila Odinga emphasized that Kenyans will ultimately hold the legislators accountable for neglecting numerous injustices perpetrated by the Kenya Kwanza government at the citizens’ expense. Despite this, he pledged to lead the Azimio coalition in advocating for an end to the hardships that the people of Kenya are enduring.
“Azimio will stop at nothing until what is due for Kenyans is delivered” he said, adding that although they agreed on some issues during the dialogue, the government resisted those which aimed at reducing the burdens of common mwananchi.
Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper Party, conveyed that they exerted their utmost effort during the discussions, even in the face of opposition from the government’s representatives.
“We did our utmost best without achieving all what was needed, we shall stop at nothing until the most sensitive point of reducing the cost of living is achieved” he said.
Kalonzo Musyoka echoed Raila’s sentiments, emphasizing that the willingness of MPs to compromise and pass bills that were detrimental to Kenyans will not be forgiven.
